Karaoke is the best. Let's face it. Is there anything better than escaping your ordinary life and becoming a rockstar for 3-5 minutes?

Now, I've delivered some pretty incredible performances throughout the years but on a few occasions I've had to step up my game to compensate for some pretty dodgy backing tracks. FRANKIE'S PIZZA

If you come down to Frankies on a Tuesday night, you'll soon realise that this is no regular karaoke night. There's no need to worry about the backing track sounding like the demo button on a cheap keyboard. You'll be joined on stage by the extreme talents of the boys from Boner Contention. The lads will perform, to a scarily accurate level, their version of some of the greatest rock songs of all time for you to sing alongside. There are plenty of classic songs to choose from. Simply jot your name down on the sign up sheet and wait for the call to the stage.

Getting on stage can seem daunting but the clientele at Frankies cheer everyone on. It's a great atmosphere and even if you aren't overly confident in your singing voice, it really doesn't matter because everyone will sing along with you. Everyone is there to have a good time. It's not X factor. There's no judges houses. Maybe a house party after the bar closes but that's about it. Do not be afraid to get up and give it a go. The crowd's got your back. You also have the pleasure of sharing the stage with the MC who is partial to joining in to help you out from time to time.

If you're going to indulge in the vast selection of alcohol available, it's a good idea to line your stomach first. Forget McDonalds or Subway, Frankies has a very respectable reputation around Sydney for the quality of their pizzas. Treat yourself to a whole pie or keep the hunger demon at bay with a slice of selected pizzas.

As with every dining experience WHERE you're eating is almost equally as important as WHAT you're eating.

Choose from two rooms in the venue to enjoy your meal.

The first room you enter, when you head down stairs, is a regular bar area. You'll feel like you've transported to a classic New York pizzeria when you reach the bottom of the stairs. The walls are plastered with music posters and rock and roll memorabilia. There are candle lit tables which are perfect for sharing a pizza and a few beers with friends. The music is at a comfortable level so you don't have to scream to let your friends know how amazing your pizza is.

If you've heard every boring story your friends have to tell and you want a little more entertainment then head on through to room number two. This is where the real action happens..!! In this room you'll find a stage that often plays host to some of Sydney and Australia's best up and coming bands as well as some "bangin' DJs" dropping some "fat beats bruv."

The floor is littered with more candle lit tables which are perfect for relaxing and enjoying the show. These tables are great for a couple or even up to 4 people however, if you're heading out with a group of friends, you might be more comfortable in one of the booths along the far wall. Of course there is a bar in this room so if, like me, you like to know the next schooner isn't far away, you can grab a stool at the bar and hang out there too.
